Legacy of Love: Bronse & Ka'ulawena's Kapoho Wedding
This one's a special one folks...
Bronse & Ka'ulawena got married on April 10, 2018; less than a month before the Puna lava flow began and Kapoho was covered by fresh, new lava, completely covering the entire landscape and rendering it inaccessible to the public.
These two chose to hold their intimate wedding ceremony at Kapoho beach in Puna, their favorite beach spot. Together they share countless memories there and thought it only fitting to get married at the place where they built their love story.
One place especially significant to them was the lighthouse, a structure that is no longer standing today. We got to sneak off and play at the lighthouse before the ceremony!
Ka'ulawena rode to their ceremony over lava rock in a lifted truck, which I LOVED! It seriously spoke to their adventurous nature. The sky cleared, and their closest family & friends gathered on the shore to witness the ceremony under the sun.
After the ceremony, we frolicked around on the lava rocks near the tidepools.
I personally hold a strong connection to Kapoho as well, because just like Bronse & Ka'ulawena, my love story with my husband was built in the crystal tide pools there. I remember very clearly sharing a 20 piece box of chicken nuggets from McDonald's and watching him throw his fishing net there for hours when we were young.
I am so floored and honored and humbled to have been able to capture this amazingly special day for Bronse & Ka'ulawena. I get to be a part of carrying on their legacy of love; for each other as well as for Kapoho.
Although Kapoho beach as we know it is now gone, we look back fondly on all of the memories made there, and look forward to what it will be after the dust settles.
