Love Unplugged: Pono & Danielle's Waimea Engagement Portraits
Kupono has a property on the highly coveted Mana Road in Waimea that has been in his family for generations. Mana Road is rich in greenery and set against the rolling Waimea hills, and it was the PERFECT spot for his and Danielle's engagement portraits!
I arrived at the dirt road entrance to Mana Road late in the afternoon on a nearly cloudless day. I was in love with the environment before I even got to Pono's property. When I got there, Pono & Danielle were fiddling with a four - wheeler outside of an older, small cabin with a chimney on the roof. Later on, they shared that they often went out there and stayed in it on the weekends, just to get away with family, friends, or simply each other. Their small dog (named Buttercup) pranced out to me over the tall grass, tail wagging, tongue out.
"You guys can go around the property and scope out any spots you might want to shoot at" Pono says, gesturing to the four wheeler.
MY COUPLE BROUGHT A FOUR WHEELER JUST FOR ME TO USE. Best. Shoot. Ever.
My assistant and I hopped on and cruised around and found some ideal spots although in actuality, the entire place was an ideal spot.
The sun began to set and we began to swoon. We had an unforgettable sunset and even got to photograph Buttercup with her parents, as well as the first cow Pono & Danielle purchased together! (His name is Vernon)
I left this shoot feeling totally overwhelmed with gratitude and peace, and I will never forget it. I am so honored that I got to photograph this couple on this property knowing that it is so special to them, and that one day maybe there will be a house on it, and Pono & Dani's kids can look back on these photos and see how it all started.
